FENStatS endorses ESAC's position toward the Data Act

The European Commission gathers feedback from the "Data Act" to be presented to the European Parliament and Council to feed into the legislative debate.

The European Commission opened public feedback to an initiative known as the 'Data Act', which seeks the right balance between rights to access data and incentives to invest in data without changing the current data protection rules. Notably, it aims to facilitate access to and use of data, including business-to-business and business-to-government (B2G), and to review the legal protection of databases.

FENStatS has provided feedback on the subject by claiming unrestricted B2G data for official statistics and scientific research and endorsed the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC) position. Feedback and endorsement are here and here.
