Stats Under the Stars 9 Returns to Rome for a Night of Data Science and Innovation

A unique statistical competition brings together emerging talent under the Roman sky.

The 9th edition of Stats Under the Stars (SUS9) is set to take place in Rome at Sapienza University of Rome, hosted by the Department of Statistical Sciences (Building CU002). The event will unfold during the night between June 21st and 22nd, 2026, just ahead of the SIS-FENStatS 2026 conference.

Organised by Sapienza University of Rome in collaboration with Young SIS, SUS9 will also feature support from Bee-Viva and a main sponsor to be announced.

Designed as a free-of-charge competition, SUS9 is open to teams composed of Master’s or PhD students within three years of completing a Master’s degree. The initiative targets participants with strong interests and skills in Statistics and Data Science, offering a platform to engage with challenges.

Beyond the competition itself, SUS9 promotes collaboration and networking among students from diverse academic backgrounds. The event encourages the exchange of ideas, fosters problem-solving abilities, and highlights the value of healthy competition. Recognition is awarded to excellence, with prizes reserved for the top three teams.

Full details and registration are available on the official SUS9 website.

Registration is currently open and will close on May 31st or once 12 teams have been confirmed, following a first-come, first-served basis.
