Network Analysis, Inference, and Modeling, Fréjus, France, October 6-11, 2019

The ECAS 2019 summer school on Network Analysis, Inference, and Modeling, organized by the French Statistical Society (SFdS), will take place in Fréjus, France, on 6-11 October, 2019. It will presents an introduction and recent advances in statistical network modeling, with a special emphasis on main concepts of network analysis, sparse inference, high-dimensional data and graphical models. It will address theoretical, methodological as well as applied and practical aspects of this field.

European Establishment Statistics Workshop 2019, Bilbao, Spain, September 24-27, 2019

EESW19, the sixth biennial European Establishment Statistics Workshop, will be held in Bilbao, the Basque Country, Spain, on 24-27 September 2019. It will be hosted by EUSTAT, the statistical office of the Basque Country. The first day is devoted to short courses, followed by the traditional two-and-a-half day workshop.

ISI World Statistics Congress 2019, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 18-23, 2019

The 62nd ISI World Statistics Congress (ISI WSC 2019) will be held on 18-23 August 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Following the tradition of the previous WSCs, ISI, in cooperation with its Associations and with support of the host organization, is organizing a pre-WSC programme of short courses to take place on 16-17 August 2019 at Sasana Kijang of Bank Negara Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.

International Workshop on Statistical Modelling 2019, Giumarăes, Portugal, July 7-12, 2019

The 34th International Workshop on Statistical Modelling (IWSM) will be held in Guimarães 7-12 July 2019. IWSM is one of the major activities of the Statistical Modelling Society, founded with the purpose of promoting and encouraging statistical modelling in its widest sense. The workshop aims to involve both academic and professional statisticians and data analysts with a particular focus on real data problems which involve an element of novel statistical modelling, or novel model application.

32nd Panhellenic Statistical Conference, Ioannina, Greece, May 31 - June 2, 2019

The Panhellenic Statistics Conference is the main conference in Statistics and Probability in Greece. The conference is co-organized every year by the Greek Statistical Institute, member of the Federation of European National Statistical Societies, and by an academic unit from Greece or Cyprus. The very first meeting was held in Thessaloniki in 1985 and the 32nd will be co-organized by the Greek Statistical Institute and the Department of Mathematics of the University of Ioannina. It is a conference where statisticians, mathematicians etc. of all ages and from all regions meet to exchange ideas and talk about new developments on the field of statistics, operation research and probability theory.

International Prize in Statistics Awarded to Bradley Efron

Alexandria, Virginia, USA (November 12, 2018): The International Prize in Statistics has been awarded to Bradley Efron, professor of statistics and biomedical data science at Stanford University, in recognition of the bootstrap, a method he developed in 1977 for assessing the uncertainty of scientific results that has had extraordinary impact across many scientific fields.

FENStatS in occasion of the ESD wishes also to underline the importance of the independence of Official Statistics, expressing deep concern over the legal proceedings against Andreas Georgiou, the former president of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), and other senior ELSTAT officials.
A letter of concern signed by the Presidents of 23 European Statistical Societies has been sent to the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Alexis Tsipras.
